I’ve been working on a project with Chris Eckersley and as soon as we started I mentioned that it could be something that would interest you. The background to this is rooted in a theme that seems to run through history, from campaign furniture to Chinese chests on stands and Arts & Crafts – I’ve included a few of the images we found as a starting point for reference. The attraction of putting boxes on stands is that this implies flexibility and perhaps mobility. We like the idea of the box itself being of beautiful proportions (we’ve used the golden section here but are not married to it) but externally being fairly plain and unassuming. We would like there to be a surprise/wow factor when you open it up. One simple way to achieve this could be through colour.
