The Geffrye had a competition to design a new donations’ box. It had to be simple, communicate what it was clearly and secure, with a clear connection to the museum.
It seemed obvious to me that the keyhole logo would make a lovely three dimensional box and combined with a back-lit graphic it manages to be discreet but at the same time get noticed.
Two boxes were installed towards the end of last year. They’re made from solid oak with a back-lit glass panel. There were quite a few notes in them when I last visited, so it’s good to see they are being noticed. It’s a wonderful museum and I highly recommend it, the restaurant is good too.
